Frequently Asked Questions * Heresy! You long-haired stinky hippy keep away from me! Now now, calm down. I don't stink and my hair is clean. Oh, and I'm not a hippy. I hold down a real 9-5 job in an office. Data-entry actually. * Then... how do you keep your hair clean? Each morning I scrub my hair with hot water. Hot water lifts away dust, dirt and sweat out of the hair just fine without the harmful side effects of shampoo. * Well, what's wrong with shampoo? Well, first of all, almost all shampoo is actually made from one of two chemical detergents. It’s the same stuff that goes into your laundry cleaner, dishwasher or hand soap. It’s also used as an industrial strength cleaner for de-greasing engine blocks and whatnot. It’s good stuff for getting rid of unwanted oils. Shampoo cleans by removing the oil that the dust clings too. And that’s the problem. Your hair needs oils to keep it strong. Your scalp needs oil to keep it from drying out. So guess what? Stop using shampoo and your hair and scalp will have it’s oil. * Isn't that what conditioners are for? Well, sure... but your body make’s its own oil. Why should you waste your time taking the oil out and then putting it back in? * Well, won't my hair become an oily mess if I stop using shampoo? Yes and no. Your body knows how much oil to make for your hair. While you are regularly shampooing your hair your body knows there isn't enough oil.... So it overreacts and starts to make a ton of extra oil. For the first several weeks your hair will be a bit over oily... but it won't take long for your body to re-balance itself. For me it took less then a week... for others it's taken up to four weeks. |
